With gratitude, I acknowledge that I live, work, and play on Treaty 13 Territory, in what is currently known as Toronto—derived from the Mohawk word Tkaronto, meaning “place where trees stand in the water.”
These are the unceded ancestral lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples, who have stewarded these lands and waters since time immemorial. Protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, this is a place of shared care and responsibility.
I honour those who have nurtured these lands before me and am committed to protecting them for generations to come.
